-	moza was born on a farm along with het little brother Benna het mother died when she was young and not much information is given about her. in the book she tells in a flashback how she used to help het father work the land until he died. when he died of a disies (probably fever) monza tried to work the land alone but it dindt yield any money so when a group of men that where taking up swords past by het farm she and het brother diside to join them. the groups original goal was to hunt down and punish another groep of armed men that pased my there villiges and burened it down and hung some people. they found a part of the group and murdered them all. and as they followed the rest of the group it wasnt long before they did the burning and hanging. but as the war passed away the people returned to there farms leaving Monza and her brother. Monza didnt want to return to the farm and didnt know what to do until they met [[nicomo cosca]]. At the time Nicomo was the second man of the [[thousand swords]] mercenaries he disided to take care of the young swordwoman and het little brother. Nicomo thaught Monza to use the blade aswel how to read. Nicomo took care of them fed them dressed them and gave them officier places in the thousand swords a prosperous time began for Monza and Benna. In the begining Nicomo and Monza used to practise swordplay in the morning but as time passed Monza became to good and Nicomo started to drink in the end Monza started to drag him out of the tarving at night instead of practising there swordplay. In the end Benna and Monza started to get really annoyed with Nicomo. But it went on until on one day Benna entered het tent with [[duke Orso]] and they said they had overtrowen Nicomo as leader of the thousand swords and that Monza could take his place.
