What Happened is the twenty-sixth chapter of Best Served Cold.
Chapter Summary[]
Hours later, Nicomo Cosca creeps back to Monza’s safe-house. As he steps inside, a blade kisses his neck; Vitari. Morveer, Day, and Friendly have also made it back safely. As the five set to arguing about what went wrong at Cardotti’s which has now burned to the ground, a bedraggled Monza and Shivers arrive. She’s reticent about the indiscriminate slaughter, but at least Ario is dead.
As they prepare to leave immediately, Carlot dan Eider arrives. Monza and Eider bristle at each other over the disaster, and eventually Eider demands her antidote. However, Monza reveals that she had never been poisoned, it was just a trick.1 As she leaves, force to run for her life as well, Eider admits she told Duke Orso that Monza is alive; her own small petty revenge.
