Shabulyan is a desolate island at the very edge of the Circle of the World. It is almost utterly unknown even by the Order of Navigators.
Geography[]
Shabulyan is an island in far to the west beyond the Old Empire. No place is more remote in the whole Circle of the World. It is a bleak and unpopulated place, with vast mounds of barren rock, jagged cliffs, and menacing mountain. The local sailors fear the island's forbidding reputation.
History[]
Centuries ago, after the destruction of Aulcus and the fall of Glustrod, the three remaining sons of Euz met; Juvens, Bedesh, and Kanedias. They discussed what should be done with The Seed, and eventually agreed to journey to Shabulyan. They gave up The Seed to the Spirit of the island, to keep safe, and to yield it only to a man who carried Juvens’ staff.
Before They Are Hanged[]
Bayaz and his band of heroes make the long, arduous journey to the island of Shabulyan. With the wind blowing and cold seeping in, they find shelter in a cave at the base of the cliffs that suitable to their needs. Huddled around a meagre first, Bayaz brings out the Maker’s box and a flask of liquor to offer to the Spirit. Logen Ninefingers blows a mist of the liquid into the flame and a moments later the Spirit appears, and offers Ferro Maljinn the stone from its stomach, entrusted to it by Juvens centuries ago. Its duty done, the Spirit fades away. Bayaz investigates the stone in Ferro’s hand, and flies into a rage. This is not the Seed, but a trick of Kanedias to keep the power for himself. He declares the entire journey a failure.
