Chapter Summary Edit
Ferro stalks Bayaz’ chambers and scowls, as she does. She hates The Union, Adua, the Agriont, and Bayaz most of all. As she paces, Malacus Quai tells her she should go back to the South; Bayaz cannot be trusted. Before Ferro can learn more, Bayaz appears, a teacup in hand. She tells him she’s done with him, but Bayaz informs her that no ships are sailing to Kanta for the foreseeable future. However, if she wishes to fight the Gurkish, he still may have use for her talents.
Her attention is drawn to the House of the Maker, she asks Bayaz about it. However, he tells her in no uncertain terms it's none of her business. She snaps back that he lived there, and betrayed Kanedias and Tolomei both, trying to get him angry.
Their peasant exchange is interrupted by the arrival of Bayaz’ former apprentice Yoru Sulfur. Sulfur presents an old book, Glustrod’s book, to the First of the Magi. However, Bayaz tells him to keep it for now, as The Seed was not there at the Edge of the World.1 Soon Lord Isher arrives, and Bayaz dismisses Ferro, who leaves with anger.
