Chapter Summary Edit
Logen Ninefingers wakes up to find a small, weather-beaten stranger in the chambers. The man introduces himself as Brother Longfoot, a supposedly renowned guide from the Order of Navigators. He is extremely talkative and boastful of his remarkable talents, and regales the Northman with his worldly travels: Stariksa, Westport, Dagoska, Shaffa, Ospria, and the most beautiful all, Talins. Bayaz enters, and they discuss preparations for a journey to The Old Empire, but not before their last party member arrives. He sends the pair to hire a ship with a purse of gold.
On the way to the docks, Longfoot insists on a shortcut down a dank alleyway. When the Navigator foolishly displays their wealth without thought, they are set on by three thugs.1 Logen deals with the nearest thugs, and then offers the others a few coins to let them go unharmed. He is less than impressed that Longfoot caused the trouble and then just hid.

- Enter Brother Longfoot. Many people seem to hate him, but I think he's a nice comic relief character. Surprisingly innocent considering how well travelled he is.
